The objective of the Africa International University was to offer pastors training that went beyond the fundamental certificate and diploma levels. This was motivated by the crisis of ‘Christo-paganism’ that African Christianity was expected to face in the absence of African Biblical theologians with extensive training to take the lead in reversing this tendency.

A Christian university called Africa International University is located in Karen, Nairobi, Kenya. As the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (N.E.G.S.T. ), the University was established in 1983 according to the vision of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. The objective was to give pastors training that went beyond the fundamental certificate and diploma levels.
After receiving a university charter from the Kenyan government in March 2011, A.I.U. has kept up its development of undergraduate programs, focusing especially on business, ICT, development studies, and counseling psychology.
