Free University of Kinshasa (Université libre de Kinshasa)

The Free University of Kinshasa was established as a private institution of public benefit with the mission to coordinate higher education and advance prestigious scientific research initiatives.

The training offered at the ULK is therefore intended for anybody interested in expanding or perfecting their knowledge in the academic subjects taught there, whether they are young or old, from any social background, and regardless of race, tribe, creed, philosophy, or nationality.

About Free University of Kinshasa

The Free University of Kinshasa, or “ULK” as it is known, was founded on October 15, 1988. Only three state-owned universities existed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the time.

In other words, the ULK is the DRC’s first secular private university. The University Institute of Law and Economics (IUDSE), from which it genuinely descended, was replaced by the one that was founded.

In the Kinshasa neighborhood of LIMETE, at 36 15th Street, is where the Université Libre de Kinshasa’s main campus. The same address is where lessons are also delivered. It is a location that is conducive to introspection and scientific activity and is suitably shielded from outside disturbances. Additionally, this location is convenient for access as it is only 200 meters from Boulevard Lumumba, a well-known thoroughfare in Kinshasa.
