The goal of Kenya Methodist University is to encourage excellence in scholarship, research, and selfless service by offering high-quality education.

About Kenya Methodist University

The Methodist Church in Kenya developed the privately chartered Kenya Methodist University (KeMU). It is located five kilometers from Meru Town in a wooded area on the northeastern slopes of Mount Kenya. The Methodist Church’s 1906 education program, which led to the creation of schools, industrial institutes, and colleges, served as the foundation for the creation of KeMU.

To figure out how to start a university in the area, the Methodist Church in Kenya established a working committee in 1987. The project was inspected by the Commission for Higher Education in 1995, and a Letter of Interim Authority was later obtained in June 1997, approving the foundation of Kenya Methodist University. The establishment of academic programs, research, and post-graduate training was facilitated by the authority. On June 28, 2006, KeMU received its full charter as a university. There are campuses for the university in Meru, Nairobi, and Mombasa.
