North-West University, South Africa

The North-West University is dedicated to operating as a unitary, integrated, multi-campus university that supports equity, redress, and globally competitive teaching and research on all three of our campuses. Our eight faculties’ primary pursuits—teaching-learning and research—are linked with civic involvement and innovation, and the majority of them accept both on-campus and online students.

The NWU gives people a place in the world in addition to an education. Students have a lot of academic flexibility and choice, which enables them to reach their full potential and begin preparing for their professions.

We are a part of the global higher education community through partnerships with universities and institutions around the world. Our efforts at internationalization encompass staff and student collaboration in academic, research, cultural, and sporting areas.

About North-West University, South Africa

South Africa’s North-West University, often known as NWU or Noordwes-Universiteit in Afrikaans, is a public research university with campuses in Potchefstroom, Mahikeng, and Vanderbijlpark. In 2004, the University of North-West (formerly the University of Bophuthatswana) and the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education—which also had a branch in Vanderbijlpark—merged to form the new institution. After merging, the North-West University grew to be one of South Africa’s biggest universities, with the third-largest full-time and distance learning student body in the nation.

On the Potchefstroom campus are the university’s administrative offices. The Potchefstroom campus of North West University developed a novel Fall Army Worm pest control model in 2018 that may be used by researchers anywhere in the world. The prototype successfully predicts how quickly the worm will spread over the world. The researchers have also discovered a natural method of addressing it that makes use of a parasitoid.
