About Somali International University
One of Somalia’s higher education institutions is Somali International University. Many privately owned institutions of higher learning have intensified their attempts to create faculties and specializations that weren’t previously available after the fall of the state.
Private, nonprofit Somali International University offers cutting-edge undergraduate and graduate programs. It was started in 2012.
The institution received accreditation from the Somalia Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education in November 2012, and on February 4th, 2013, 847 students enrolled in classes. When SIU was first established, it had five faculties: business and economics, arts and social sciences, engineering and computer technology, sharia and law, and health sciences. SIU created additional ground-breaking faculties over the years that were desperately needed.
To meet the demand for domestic agricultural goods in the country, the Faculty of Agriculture was founded in 2015. To meet the demand for top-notch and demanding education practitioners and teachers, SUI created the Faculty of Education in 2017. The Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of General Medicine have split apart in 2019 to form a new, distinct faculty, raising the total number of faculties at the institution to 8.
SIU is dedicated to establishing a learning environment built on a liberal arts core curriculum that develops students’ capacity for ethical and critical inquiry by encouraging them to look for links among various areas of knowledge. Problem-solving skills are taught to students at SIU. The university hires professors from all over the world because of SIU’s dedication to lifelong learning as well as its vision and objective of preparing a wide spectrum of professionals.
