The University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies envisions itself as a catalyst institution for teaching, researching, and practicing sustainable agricultural and environmental sustainability. Throughout time, it is hoped that the country would establish a strong scientific and technological knowledge base to assist in addressing national, regional, and even global environmental concerns.

About University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies

The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, under the direction of the Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori Panin II, established the University College of Agricultural and Environmental Studies (UCAES) as a tertiary education program (King of Akyem Abuakwa).

It is the first institution of higher learning in Africa with a focus on agriculture and the environment. In October 2006, the university was established as a company limited by guarantee under Ghana’s Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179).

In the East Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region, at Bunso, is where you’ll find the University College. One of the private sector initiatives for postsecondary education, is a secular co-educational tertiary institution that was incorporated under the Ghana Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) on October 19, 2006.

The university college’s goal in the next five years is to develop into a center that offers top-notch tertiary education in agriculture and the environment and through which Ghana’s development programs can be realized, with a strong focus on instilling in young people strong morals and ethical values. Through outreach programs that are driven by demand, it will also help improve Bunso and its surroundings’ level of development and education. Within its core mandate of offering advanced studies in sustainable exploitation and preservation of the environment, UCAES aims to provide comprehensive education and training, functional and general skills in contemporary studies/issues to Ghanaians in general through the complementarities of teaching, research, and dissemination/practice of knowledge so acquired.
