About the University of Kolwezi
The University of Kolwezi (UNIKOL) is a public university in the city of Kolwezi, in the province of Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo. At the time of its founding, it was a branch of the University of Lubumbashi, known at the time as the University Centre of Kolwezi (C.U.K.). French is used in the lessons.
Kolwezi Center University(C.U.K.), an outgrowth of the University of Lubumbashi, was founded on October 1st, 2004, and it became independent on September 27, 2010, as a result of Ministerial Order No. 157/MINESU/CABMIN/EBK/PK/2010.
A school (Public Health) and eleven faculties (Law, Agricultural Sciences, Sciences, Economics and Management Sciences, Polytechnic, Letters and Human Sciences, Information and Communication Sciences, Medicine, Political and Administrative Sciences, Psychology, and Education) make up UNIKOL at the moment. These institutions of higher learning are dispersed across two locations: Bebyati in the heart of Kolwezi and Musompo to the east.
