About Ambrose Alli University

In the pursuance of the take-off of the University, Governor Alli selected Prof. M. I. Ogbeide as the Vice Chancellor and Mr. S. A. Kalulu as the Registrar. A company of Academic Planners with Mrs. S. A. Aluko (Director of Planning at UNIBEN) as its Director was authorized to organize a long-term physical and academic Master Plan for the University.

Working from temporary leased quarters in Benin City, the two principal officers made trips to Ekpoma in search of physical infrastructure for the take-off of the University. With the cooperation of the Onojie of Ekpoma and the Emaudo Community, a large plot of land was made public for the permanent site of the University. Negotiations with the Okpebho Local Government leaders also directed the distribution of part of the Secretariat as offices for pioneer staff. A media advert for academic recruitment tours by the Vice Chancellor. The applications accepted were overwhelming. The first set of administrative staff to be drafted had Mr. S. O. Utomakili as Bursar, Engr F. O. A. Osawe as Director of Works Services, and Messrs R. O. Okodugha and Dele Arekamhe as Principal Assistant Registrars respectively.

Who founded AAU?

Answer: Ambrose Folorunsho Alli (22 September 1929 – 22 September 1989) was a Nigerian medical professor who performed as Executive Governor of the extinct Nigerian state of Bendel State (now the Nigerian states of Edo and Delta ) between 1979 and 1983. He was the first civilian governor.

Ambrose Folorunsho Alli was born in Idoani, Ondo state on 22 September 1929. In his childhood, he transferred between Oka-Odo, Ekpoma, Owo, Efon-Alaye, Benin City, and Asaba, where he finished his secondary education in 1948. He followed the School of Agriculture Ibadan (1948) and the School of Medical Technology, Adeoyo Hospital Ibadan (1953–1960) where he earned an MBBS. He acted as a house officer at the Adeoyo hospital from 1960 to 1961. He went to the United Kingdom for a post-graduate course in neuropathology at the University of London (1961–1966), earning a D.C. pathology degree. Later he studied at the University of Birmingham from 1971 to 1974.

AAU admission essentials through UTME 

Applicants must have reached the age of 16.

Applicants must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s). This must contain English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects connected to their course of study. For example, an applicant that wants to study law must have a “C” in English Language, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics, and Literature in English.

Not more than ONE sitting result is taken for admission into the Ambrose Alli University (AAU)

AAU admission requirements through Direct Entry 

Prospects must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. However, two sitting result is not allowed.

Prospects must have also reached the age of 16.

Prospects are predicted to get a JAMB Directly entry form from JAMB to apply.

Nominees should have any of the following certificates: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, and ICAN.
