About Chrisland University

A private, well-known university called Chrisland University holds the view that all hardship in the world stems from a lack of creativity. As a result, the university takes seriously the idea of empowering students to unleash their incredible creative potential, which is why we award our graduates with two certificates: a bachelor’s degree and a certificate in entrepreneurship training. Chrisland University is doing everything possible to ensure that its graduates are not only academically sound but also self-sufficient by integrating entrepreneurship into all of the courses they are taking. With 862 students enrolled as of this writing and more on the way, Chrisland University has maintained its growth despite the current conditions.

As more students from other African nations enroll at the institution, Chrisland University’s standing abroad is expanding. High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Winifred Awosika, OON, a seasoned educationist and administrator, laid the major foundation for what is now Chrisland University (the university division of Chrisland Schools Limited) more than 40 years ago. With a vision to positively impact the educational sector, the institution opened its doors with just seven students.

However, to be at the forefront of private education in Nigeria and have a leadership position from kindergarten to tertiary level, High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Winifred Awosika, OON had always fostered the ambitions of establishing new educational levels every 10 years. When she founded the Nursery Department, which she began by educating no more than seven students in her kitchen, her wishes came true. She did, however, attract additional students, necessitating an enlargement. She founded the Secondary School section in another 10 years and the Pre-degree College section in another ten years. Together, these divisions have expanded into a sizable bastion of knowledge. Nigeria’s largest privately owned educational institution, Chrisland Schools, was formed in 1977.

The University arm could not be founded after ten years, as the founder had intended, so there was a small delay. But on September 17, 2015, the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s National Universities Commission gave the University a full operational license to function as a private institution in Nigeria beginning in 2019.

The College of Natural and Applied Sciences and the College of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences was the University’s first two colleges. While the College of Law acquired NUC Accreditation in 2022, the College of Basic Medical Sciences became the third college in 2019. The institution’s current vice chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Chinedum Peace Babalola, FAS, fought for the full accreditation of nine (9) programs that were submitted for the 2018 NUC Accreditation, including business administration, economics, accounting, criminology & security studies, psychology, computer science, political science, microbiology, and biochemistry. Mass communication, banking and finance, and international relations were three programs that were submitted for NUC accreditation in 2021 and received full accreditation in the same year.
