About Knutsford University College
An independent organization called Knutsford University College was founded in 2007 to help address the rising need for high-quality, reasonably priced university education in Ghana, Africa, and other parts of the world. The National Accreditation Board (NAB) of the Ministry of Education in the Republic of Ghana granted Knutsford accreditation that same year for it to open its doors in 2008. This was because of its outstanding academic facilities, cutting-edge life-changing programs, committed staff, good governance and management structures, and supportive learning environment.
To provide mentorship and to confer a UG degree to its graduates, it also received affiliation with Ghana’s top university in 2011. The affiliation between the University College and the University for Development Studies, also located in Ghana, was expanded in 2017. The University College, which began with 25 students in 2008 at its opulent East Legon campus in Accra, Ghana’s capital and only 10 minutes drive from Kotoka International Airport, has since grown to thousands of students, graduated over 1000 students, and is still going strong. Furthermore, it has opened a second campus in Kumasi in Bomso, which is roughly a 25-minute drive from the local airport.
The university is aware that while each person must contribute to personal, societal, national, and international growth, leadership is essential for a paradigm shift and a fundamental transformation in any community. People die from ignorance just as they die from poor or narrow-minded leadership. Hence it follows that not everyone is a leader and not all leadership development programs result in effective leadership. Leadership can and must be developed among people who have already shown promise.
Therefore, at Knutsford, the subject of leadership is central to our programs and is consciously developed as a specific, comprehensive, and detailed program of character-building and heroic thinking. This is done to ensure that our students develop into creative, active, wise, disciplined, and inspiring leaders.
To achieve this, the educational offerings of the university can be summed up as a unified synthesis of the intellectual, critical, scientific, psychological, philosophical, moral, and ethical foundations of personal and professional development.
For many reasons, it is crucial to help, mentor, and inspire our students to become outstanding community leaders. First of all, it is acknowledged that a significant portion of our leaders’ personal and moral failings can be blamed for widespread myopia, corruption, greed, fear, and narrow-mindedness that plagues today’s youth and societies as a whole.
Knutsford is well aware of the need for educational programs to provide students with not only the technical, vocational, and career tools they need, but also with more liberal viewpoints that encompass a wide range of endeavors and have a positive influence on vision, attitude, creativity, balance, and excellence. The goal of a Knutsford education is to ensure that graduates have a more positive attitude about themselves, the world, their neighbors, and the opportunities ahead after a program rather than just academic knowledge or technical topic competence.

Knutsford is controlled by a Council of Governors, which is currently presided over by Prof. Paul Noble Buatsi and served as chancellor by Drs. D.A. Boateng, J.K. Essel, etc. Prof. Anthony K. Ahiawodzi is the manager of the current team. The Council is comprised of key members of the University College community, including staff and faculty, students, and related organizations.
The Academic Board, which is presided over by the President, oversees academic affairs. Four academic schools with nine departments and two centers are now being built in Knutsford. The institutions are the Knutsford Business School (KBS), the Knutsford School of Humanities and Education (KSHE), the Knutsford School of Science and Technology (KSST), and the Knutsford School of Graduate Studies and Research (KSGSR).
The Department of Accounting and Finance, the Department of HR and Management Sciences, and the Department of Marketing and Decision Sciences are the three departments that makeup KBS. The Department of Nursing and the Department of Computer Science and Technology are the two existing departments at KSST. KSHE now houses three departments: the Department of Communication and Media Studies, the Department of Psychology and Sociology, and the Department of Economics, Philosophy, and Politics.
The current centers are the Center for Language and ICT Support and the Centre for Leadership and Governance (CLG) (CLICTS).
