About Machakos University

Machakos University is a public university in Machakos, Kenya. The then-colonial administration established the University in 1957 as a Technical Rural Training School. In 1958, Machakos Technical and Trade School, 1967, and 1987, Machakos Technical Training Institute (MTTI) were all created from it.

The expertise of MTTI in engineering, technology, hospitality, and tourism was praised. On September 16th, 2011, the institution received an elevation to Machakos University College under Legal Notice No. 130. The process of becoming a comprehensive university got underway as soon as it was founded.

On October 7, 2016, the University was granted its charter. It was formerly an affiliate institution of Kenyatta University. The University has a solid pedagogical foundation for high-quality instruction and training to fulfill its goal of providing accessible, affordable, adaptable, and relevant academic programs for the shifting socio-economic and other social requirements. The General Board of the Faculties, the Senate, and the Council serve as the three governing bodies of the university. Members of the University are represented in these groups.
