About Mansoura University

In Egypt’s Mansoura city, Mansoura University was established in 1972. It is situated in the center of the Nile Delta. It is one of the largest universities in Egypt and has made significant contributions to the intellectual and cultural life of Mansoura and Egypt.

As a division of Cairo University, the college of medicine was established in 1962. The university was established in 1972 and given the name “East Delta University” by presidential proclamation. In 1973, Mansoura University became the new name for it.

A team led by the University paleontologist Hesham Sallam found the Mansourasaurus genus of herbivorous lithostrotian sauropod dinosaurs in 2018; the dinosaur was named after the school.
