A university in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Protestant University in the Congo (also known as UPC) is associated with the Protestant Church, also known as the Church of Christ in the Congo.

The campus of the institution is situated in the Lukunga District of Kinshasa, the largest and capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the Lingwala area. Avenue Pierre Mulele, which is next to the National Museum of Congo and immediately north of the Centenary Protestant Cathedral, borders the campus on the west side. The National Museum of Congo is located to the south and southeast of the campus. Campus location: 4°19’59.0″S, 15°17’52.0″E (4.333056; 15.297778).

The Faculty of Protestant Theology of the Belgian Congo and Rwanda-Urundi (also known as the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the Belgian Congo and Rwanda-Urundi) was founded in 1959, and this is where the UPC got its start. In 1963, it changed its name to the Faculty of Protestant Theology at the Free University of the Congo, and in 1971, it was merged into the National University of Zaire (UNAZA) as part of the country’s secondary education centralized.

After UNAZA was secularized in 1974, it was later re-established as a standalone organization. With a student population of almost 8,000 as of 2015, it was the biggest Protestant university in the entire world. At the time, there were 45 percent male pupils and 55 percent female students.
