About Botswana International University of Science and Technology

An international institution called the Botswana International University of Science & Technology, or BIUST, is situated in the Botswanan town of Palapye. After the University of Botswana in Gaborone, the capital of the country, it is the second university in the country. The area is a gently sloping 2,500-hectare (9.7 sq mi) site on the outskirts of Palapye.

The Botswana International University of Science and Technology Act of 2005 created the institution as a research-focused institution with a focus on science, engineering, and technology at the undergraduate and graduate (master and Ph.D.) levels. China Civil Engineering Construction served as the project’s contractor, and work got underway in December 2009. The Botswana government provided US$61.5 million (R495.6 million) for the project’s first phase.

The phrase, which lasted two years, involved building the administration building, housing halls for close to 300 students and 70 staff members, labs, auditoriums, an indoor sports arena, a student center and bookstore, a clinic, and classrooms. The institution opened for enrollment in March 2011, and the first semester started in August of that same year. 6,000 pupils will be accommodated by the project.

BIUST is a highly focused educational institution that offers its clients a comfortable learning environment for their pupils. The main services offered to pupils are guidance and counseling, as well as HIV awareness campaigns, programs to identify students with disabilities, and learning challenges, among other things.
