About Karatina University

Karatina Institution is a public institution in the central Kenyan town of Karatina. The Moi University Central Kenya Campus was established in 2007 as a Moi University campus for central Kenya. It had an initial admission of 100 students and was located about 15 kilometers north of the town of Karatina. Three years later, in 2010, it was elevated to the status of Moi University constituent institution and called Karatina University institution. It was established in 2013 after the institution was designated as a university in its own right.

The main campus of the University is located in Kagochi, the former Karatina University College, some 15 kilometers from Karatina town. 

Additional sites may be found in Nanyuki and Itiati, the latter of which houses the university’s School of Education and Social Sciences. The University is now placed 19th in Kenya on the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which analyzes a university’s web presence.
